Forum Cookies strain

Forum Cookies, also sold as Forum Cut Cookies and GSC Forum Cut, is one of the original cuttings of Girl Scout Cookies (GSC), the hybrid the San Francisco breeder Jigga made by crossing an OG Kush with his F1 Durb.1,2,3,4 Leafly’s genealogy says a grower known as Ghost spread the cut from 2008 and that it was named for the internet forums where growers debated it.4 It tests at a median total THC of 18.75% across 81 state lab tests of Forum Cookies flower, with the middle half of results between 15.71% and 21.20%, a small sample; flower labeled simply GSC or Girl Scout Cookies, which can be any cut, had a median of 19.72% across 567 tests.5

He is bald with gray hair at the sides, round spectacles and a big gray mustache, in a long dusty-rose coat, a cream shirt, a rust-brown waistcoat, brown striped trousers and brown lace-up boots; behind him are crates of oranges and lemons, a dark stall front and a sage-green scalloped awning.

Quick answers

What strain is Girl Scout Cookies?

GSC, originally known as Girl Scout Cookies, is a hybrid that the San Francisco breeder Jai “Jigga” Chang made in the late 2000s by crossing an OG Kush with his own F1 Durb.3,4,9 The name covers several cuts, each a single selected plant: Forum Cookies is one of the original ones, and Thin Mint and Platinum are others.1,3,4

Is Forum Cookies the same as GSC?

It is one cut of it: Leafly calls Forum Cut Cookies one of the original cuttings of GSC, and Weedmaps calls it a widely shared, carefully selected cut of the Girl Scout Cookies genetics.1,2 Flower sold just as GSC can be any cut, so our lab data counts the two apart: 18.75% median THC across only 81 Forum-labeled tests and 19.72% across 567 GSC-labeled ones.5

Is GSC indica or sativa?

A hybrid, with labels that pull both ways: Leafly’s description calls GSC indica-dominant but rates its effects mostly energizing, AllBud lists 60% indica, and Weedmaps calls it sativa-leaning.3,9,10 For the Forum cut, AllBud also gives 60% indica, SeedFinder says mostly indica, and Leafly rates it mostly energizing.1,6,7

How strong is Forum Cookies?

Our measurements come from a small sample: the median total THC across 81 state lab tests was 18.75%, and 4.9% reached 25% or more.5 Strain databases list 21% (Leafly) and 20–28% (AllBud), while Weedmaps shows 14%.1,2,6

Why is it called Forum Cookies?

After the internet forums where growers debated it: Leafly’s genealogy says the cut a grower known as Ghost shared from 2008 became known as the Forum Cut, and Weedmaps says it was shared among the original team at the International Cannagraphic Magazine (ICMag).2,4 The Cookies part is its parent, GSC, which Weedmaps says was originally known as Girl Scout Cookies.1,9

Who created Girl Scout Cookies?

Jai “Jigga” Chang, a San Francisco breeder whom High Times profiled in 2014 with Flux and Mr. Sherbinski as the Cookie Family.4,11 The rapper Berner, who began selling Chang’s strains to dispensaries with him, gets credit for marketing Cookies, and the Forum cut spread through the grower known as Ghost.4,12

Famous as GSC, scarce as the Forum cut

Leafly calls GSC the foundation of one of the top cannabis families of the legalization era: its list of the 100 best strains says GSC “took the throne from OG Kush to usher in the dessert strain era,” and in 2014 High Times ranked it #24 among the 25 greatest strains of all time, noting it might be the youngest strain on the list.13,14 Leafly’s genealogy credits it with Best Indica at the 2013 NorCal Cannabis Cup, and Weedmaps with first place for Best Hybrid at the 2013 High Times Southern California Cannabis Cup.4,9 Ghost, who spread the Forum cut, told Leafly that if the cut had not got out as widely as it did, it would not have become known as what Cookies is.4

GSC itself is not among the best sellers in Leafly’s list for 2025 or The Marijuana Herald’s August 2026 roundup by state; its descendants are.15,16 Gelato, bred from GSC’s Thin Mint cut, was #6 in Leafly’s 2025 national list and #3 among California flower strains in both 2024 and 2025, with $16 million in January–November sales each year; Sherbert, a GSC cross, was Montana’s top seller, and Mule Fuel, a cross of the Forum cut’s child GMO Cookies, Connecticut’s.15,16,17,18,19,20,21,22

The Forum cut itself is scarce: AllBud notes its rarity, and in state lab records flower labeled GSC or Girl Scout Cookies outnumbers Forum-labeled flower 567 tests to 81.5,6 On Oct 4, 2026, Weedmaps showed Forum Cookies flower at 39 store listings in 8 of 27 US markets, led by Baltimore (12).23
